Kindergarten Crew // Hulk Smash (Subtraction Edition)

I am a strong believer that kindergarten should be full of amazing and memorable experiences.  I know that some people believe that learning can’t always be fun but why not?  When learning is engaging, interactive, fun and intentional, I truly believe that students will stay curious, retain more information and foster a genuine love for learning.

We recently introduced subtraction in our Math module and I needed something to grab their attention so I looked for something they all loved and knew something about… play-doh and Incredible Hulk.  I found an activity online called subtraction smash and I rebranded it and made it our own. The cool part about this activity is that it is hands on, and the play-doh is used as a manipulative or learning tool for the learner.   This activity was so much fun and the students have been begging for more time to practice with Hulk Smash subtraction.

How to Play:

Print or make a subtraction smash printable. Create or make some subtraction flash cards or use dice.   Grab some play-doh,  a pencil and  you are ready to play and learn!!
